WIRELESS NETWORK DESIGN AND TROUBLE SHOOTING

WIRELESS NETWORK DESIGN

Wireless Networks, or Wi-Fi Networks, are an ever more predominant enabling factor for seamless Internet access. With the reliance and number  of smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices in the modern workplace, it is essential that an efficient, reliable and secure wireless network is in place in order to meet the demands of the business and the end user.

Gone are the days when Wi-Fi design was all about coverage. Lets just put in a few Access Points and that will be fine. It is now about, coverage, capacity, performance, efficiency, security and reliability. Wi-Fi is becoming more and more critical to everyday business needs.

With a structured approach to planning and designing of WI-FI networks, client involvement is imperative. The information gathering process includes an in depth discussion with respect to requirements and expectations. A  detailed site survey is normally required in order to understand building parameters.  In addition, information on current wireless network frequencies already in use by the client and others is gathered, as well as a review of any current wired infrastructure.  If a survey cannot be carried out, CAD or PDF files providing details of the building or plant layout are required. This coupled with a virtual meeting is all that is required to conduct a predictive modelling exercise.

Where no structure exists, or detailed surveys are not possible ( such as with the current COVID-19 situation),  with the clients input,  a paper study is conducted. All that is required are CAD or PDF files of the building or plant layout and a virtual meeting to discuss parameters, requirements, expectations and constraints.   This shall be followed by a predictive modelling process which shall be reviewed at various stages and agreed prior to implementing.

Predictive Wi-Fi site surveys and models are particularly useful for new buildings, allowing the wireless network to be planned and costed prior to any major financial outlay.

WIRELESS NETWORK TROUBLE SHOOTING

There are a number of reasons a wireless network may appear not to be performing as expected. These can range from a misunderstanding of the technology to major technical issues that require addressing.
Through experience, knowledge and technical equipment, our expertise can work with the client to identify issues, understand the clients expectations of the network, suggest solutions and hopefully provide some education along the way.
