INDUSTRIAL WIRELESS NETWORKS

INDUSTRIAL WIRELESS NETWORK DESIGN

Wireless LAN, WLAN, systems are becoming increasingly essential to the efficient management and control of the industrial environment.  In the industrial space, many oil and gas, pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, water treatment, refinery, storage depot, and mining applications, require placing industrial WLAN access points in an environment that is exposed to explosive gases, vapors, or dust. Along with the safety hazardous area access point enclosures provide, their use also provides flexibility and convenience that minimizes costs associated with network changes and upgrades.

Industrial Wireless Networks provide not only corporate network access but when configured with HART routers provide access to the measurement and control discipline.

As with non-industrial design a detailed requirements analyses, integration into existing infrastructures  and the use of modelling tools is an essential element of the design process.

Not only can we design such infrastructures but also source hazardous area access point enclosures designed for Class 1, Division 1 and 2 locations, Groups A, B, C, & D and ATEX Zone 1 and 2 areas. Providing Wi-Fi or mesh in these hazardous locations is accomplished by mounting the AP inside a certified enclosure and connecting approved antenna's and cabling systems. Figure 1 alongside provides and example utilising an ARUBA access point and HART/ISA 100A router.

Figure 1 is an example only. Access Points from Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Meru as well as ARUBA are included in our portfolio.
